Getting out into the bush doesn’t need to be daunting. This course will get you ready for successful fieldwork by showing you what equipment you need to be properly geared up and allow you to try it out. You will also learn how technology can help you find your way around the wild and collect quality data when you are out there. Most importantly, though, you will learn the best practices to always remember so you and your crew come back safely.

2-day outdoor workshop.

Skills Learned

Use of tablets, GPS, compass, and maps for navigation

Call in procedures, and use of satellite beacon and hand-held radios

General safety and comfort in the field

Gathering and uploading field data using a digital field form on a smart phone or tablet

Protocols for driving on remote and forestry roads
